1769-1897 Short History of Mechanical Traction and Travel Book - Part I. Original.
The Early History of the Motor Car 1769-1897 from the Oakwood Press (1946) by R.W. Kidner.
Author's Note.
The purpose of this book, which will appear in two Parts covering the periods from 1769 to 1897 and from 1898 to 1946 (Part II NOT Included), is to provide a complete history of the development of the road motor in small compass and at a reasonable price. In order to do this, much of the colourful background of early motoring has had to be omitted, and small illustrations in black and white have been used instead of photographs. Furthermore, the first Part has been cut down to almost catalougue form in order to allow more room to be discursive in the later Part. The book is, however, copiously illustrated; on a subject of this sort one picture can often do the work of half a page of text.
A bibiliography and index will appear with Part 2.
Condition: Cover shows soiling and yellowing.
