Description

1939-1946 Ford Rear Axle Repair Manual. ORIGINAL.

This book contains information and instructions for the overhaul or repairs of the various Ford truck rear axles. In each instance the instructions and procedures start with the axle already removed from the vehicle.

A separate chapter is devoted to each of the three different types of axles. Chapter One covers the standard rear axle as used in types T, U, and W trucks (T- Regular Truck, U- Dump Truck, and W - Cab Over Engine (COE) Truck), starting with 1939 models;

Chapter Two covers the light truck rear axle as used in types D and Y trucks (D - 3/4-Ton Truck, Y - 1-Ton Truck);

Chapter Three covers the two-speed truck rear axle as provided for optional equipment for types T, U, and W trucks, starting with 1939 models.

Each of these chapters is divided into section covering "Description and Disassembly Procedure", "Cleaning, Inspection, and Repair," and "Assembly".

In the sections covering "Cleaning, Inspection, and Repair, a complete inspection of each part is included. In these sections wear limits are given which clearly point out when a part should be discarded, as well as when it is satisfactory for further use.

Numbers appearing in the various illustrations in bold type are basic part numbers.

This book is one of a series of 11 illustrated repair manuals (not included) published by Ford Motor Company.
