1991 Ford Powertrain Control Emissions Diagnosis Service Manual. ORIGINAL.

Note: On Board Diagnostics II (OBD-II or ODB2) is an advanced/improved technology to ODB-I (OBD1). OBD-II provides better and more standardized vehicle protocols and system checks data. OBD-I needs a corded connection and the port is usually found under the hood, while an OBD-II port is usually located within a couple of feet of the steering wheel and data will often be accessed via an ODB-II adapter that supports Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity. These older manuals are OBD-I and did not differentiate in the title/on the cover as there wasn't an OBD-II spec at the time.

Information contained within this official Ford Motor Company reference manual provides the user a step-by-step approach for diagnosing drivability, emission and power train control system symptoms. This manual should be used in conjunction with the Shop Manual and Wiring Diagram, which are NOT included.
