Even if the name "S-Class" was not introduced until much later, it is fair to say that the history of the S-Class began with the 187 series.

Since then, every trip in an S-Class has been a kind of journey through time into the automotive future. With milestones in terms of safety, comfort, dynamics and design, every S-Class has always been more than a car-length ahead of its time.

And with the new S-Class this will also be the case in the future.
