The Ford 6F50 automatic transaxle is a 6-speed transaxle with electronic shift control. It is designed for operation in a transverse powertrain for front-wheel drive (FWD) and all wheel drive (AWD) vehicles.
The 6F50 transaxle has a 4 element torque converter design which includes a Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) and a geartrain with 3 planetary gearsets.
The hydraulic control system of the 6F50 transaxle uses a solenoid body with 7 electronically controlled solenoids.
